Among the wildflowers πŸŒΌπŸ’«

Hey there! β˜€οΈ

Welcome to the first monthly newsletter from Lucky Cosmos Creative. a place where wild inspiration transforms into designs and patterns.✨

When I thought about little nugget from the heart I'd like to share in my very first newsletter, the thing that just kept popping out at me is how much I love flowers and plants - wildflowers and plants. I always have. And after pushing the thought away 16 times, I eventually thought, "yes, that's exactly what I want to share.." 🌻

Flower talk makes me feel alive so I wanted to pass that little zing of joy onto you :)

When I named Lucky Cosmos Creative, I was beyond excited that "Cosmos" refers to a cheerful daisy-esque flower variety as well as the heavenly bodies in the sky.🌸✨ The perfection of it all!

And so here I am. Loving and sharing the flowers. How could I not?

I love them for their flowery-ness, but also for their medicinal healing properties, their stellar personalities, and how they communicate so much joy and comfort just by being. Isn't that the reason we give them away?

I love drawing flowers in a botanical or scientific style as much as I love drawing them in a more simple, stylized way. I think they'll always show up in one way or another in my art..

Whenever I think about drawing something outside of the realm of flowers and plants, I hear myself asking, "but... why?"

I started collecting books about the healing properties of flowers and plants during freshman year of college, poring over them and issuing bayberry and elderberry capsules to my sore throated pals.. Perhaps it was a bit much, haha. But some throats were sure appreciative..

And now, I embrace my love of the flowers as wholeheartedly as I embrace breathing air and speaking in lyrics.

So I'll close this little flower-inspired chapter with an image of some of flower healing books that have endless inspiration potential. These are the ones chock full of flower healing and wisdom + gorgeous botanical flower drawings. 🌿

Wishing you a month of noticing the earth coming alive, as spring slowly (or quickly!) shows up in the ground cover, the buds on branches, and soon - blossoms! 🌸✨

Next newsletter will arrive just in time for some Spring Equinox celebrating, so look forward to another little nature infusion next time around.

Much luck and love, ✨

PATTERN PEEK ✨

Awwww! This sweet ginkgo pattern was just born in February, all fresh and golden, just falling, falling, in orderly unison, against a cotton candy sunset, as fresh baby ginkgo's tend to do.... Stay tuned to see where they show up in out in the wild wild world!

Give Yourself Permission Adulting can be a lot. a lot. As a creative person, I sometimes feel really lucky that I do creative work because it means I'll give myself time and space - and permission - to be creative. Because it's my work. So, why do we give ourselves permission to do things that are work rather than have fun just for the sake of fun? I'm gonna blame all the adulting... And adulting can become a real habit, ya know? Habits are good to break once in a while; shake up that...

Ahh, springtime with my homie, Dune Primrose.. Spring flowers are my favorite part of this season. And those that grow in the desert just have an extra layer of awe. Growing abundantly from dry packed red sands, the desert truly comes buzzing to life in the spring. On a recent trip to the desert, I was seeking globe mallow, as I do, when I came across this carpet of mind melting desert flower madness. Dune Primrose. 🌸 Dune Primrose just grows out of the sand, blooms under the moon and stars,...

Hello to you and to a new season.. Happy springtime 🌿🌷 Today in the northern hemisphere, we will experience the vernal equinox - equal daylight, and equal nightfall.. Having had longer nights and shorter days, after today, we move into longer days and shorter nights. Spring is when the Earth wakes up, symbolizing new beginnings, inspiring new ideas and inviting us out into the sunshine. Ever inspired by nature, I wanted to give a shout out to spring - so here we go.. From the recesses of my...
